1. What is it and how does it work?

Q:  What is the Capcom Unity Visa card?
A:
The Capcom Unity Visa® Prepaid Card is the most unique prepaid Visa card designed specifically for gamers. The card gives you an unprecedented combination of purchasing power, gaming discounts, cash-back rewards and exclusive access combined with the Capcom Unity membership rewards program. The Capcom Unity Visa is safer than cash, and more widely accepted than checks.

Q:  Is this a credit card?
A:
Not in the traditional sense of a Visa Check Card, no. There is no separate checking account associated with your card. Think of it as a virtual checking account, or a checking account on steroids. Like a checking account, you can spend money that you "load" or "deposit" onto your card. Unlike a checking account, there are no paper checks for you to write. Unlike a checking account, there is no hand-written check register, where you might forget to record a transaction... your check register is electronic and automatically records every transaction, so there are no "oops" fees.

Unlike traditional debit cards and their associated paper checking accounts, you get automatic valuable benefits including Capcom discounts, cash-back and other rewards, as well as exclusive access and unique experiences available only to Capcom Unity Visa cardholders.

Unlike a traditional checking account with their associated debit/check card, bounced checks and their associated Overdraft or Non-Sufficient-Funds fee charges are treated very different. Unlike a checking account, most transactions will simply not go through if there is not any money on the card, saving you significantly on penalty "oops" fees.

This is called a Visa Prepaid card. It is a new type of debit card. It is an excellent cash-management tool, and on average, can save you hundreds of dollars annually, while providing you with discounts, rewards and exclusive access. Just use this card for your everyday spending and you will be rewarded handsomely.

Q:  How do I sign up for the Capcom Unity Visa Card?
A:
You can signup via a quick and easy form here at
www.capcom-unity-card.com.

You will need either a valid credit card or debit card to make the initial purchase of the card online. If you do not have one and are over 18, you can go to any retailer and purchase a Visa prepaid card with at least $19.95 loaded on it, which in turn can be used to purchase the Capcom Unity Visa card. The card costs $9.95. Your initial deposit when you purchase your card can be as low as $10 and as much as $100, (hence you need a minimum of $19.95 available on a credit, debit or prepaid card) to acquire the Capcom Unity Visa card.

If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, you must have a parent fill out the enrollment form and use their credit or debit card. To purchase the card, you (or parent) must be a US resident over 18 with a valid social security number and a verifiable address to get a card. During the activation process you (or parent) will be required to supply your name, address, date-of-birth, social security number, or taxpayer ID number for non-U.S. citizens living in the U.S. Currently we do not offer cards to residents of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa or other U.S. territories.

You can only have one active card per adult (over 18) social security number at any time.

Q:  How do I activate my card?
A:
You activate your card by calling the toll-free number on the sticker attached to your card when you receive it. Once activated, it is ready to use. You cannot log in to your cardholder web-based account until you receive your card and activate it.

Q:  Which game or character can I select to be featured on my Capcom Unity Visa Card?
A:
There are a variety of card designs featuring different game titles and characters. Select your favorite when you sign up.

Q:  I want to collect all of the various Capcom Unity Visa cards. Can I have more than one at a time?
A:
You can only have one active Capcom Unity Visa card of any design, at a time. However, you do have the option of "retiring" a card, and acquiring a new card of another design. The minimum amount of time you may keep a card before "retiring" it and ordering a new card of another design is 30 days. To request a new card design, log in to your cardholder website and click on "Request New Card Design".

Q:  Where can I use my Capcom Unity Visa card?

Easy and automatically. If you are a Capcom Unity member, you receive 5,000 Unity Points just for signing up and receiving your Capcom Unity Visa card. First, however, you need to link your card to your Capcom Unity account. It's easy. If you have not yet become a member of Capcom Unity, you can do so by going to www.capcom-unity.com and signing up. It's free.

Q:  When do my Rewards earnings show up on any of my cardholder sites?
A:
Reward points from most Gift Card purchases made on the Capcom Rewards Mall will show up on your cardholder Rewards site immediately after your transaction has been completed.

Rewards points from everyday (signature-check with WSB on reporting time) purchases made with the CapCom Visa Card will show up as "Pending" on your Capcom Rewards Mall website once the transaction is completed and will remain pending for 45 days from the day of purchase. After 45 days, they will convert to "Available", and they will also show on your cardholder website, at the top of the page, below your card balance in the “Your Point Balance” box.-this only applies to purchases made in the rewards mall from online purchases, not only signature purchases where the merchant requires a 45 day waiting period-you have to check with WSB on how quickly the Visa Card ½% cash back gets posted to the account?-based on what is written just below here I don’t know what you are trying to say, from the mall perspective you have to wait 45 days, but this wouldn’t apply to signature purchases made at other online merchants?)

Rewards points from purchases made at any of the Online Merchants through the Capcom Rewards Mall may take up to 2 weeks to appear, and usually appear the day after the item is shipped. They will be remain pending for 45 days from the date of purchases.

With daily balance alerts you'll always know your available balance and you will receive updates every time you use or deposit money onto your Card. You can even customize the times of day that you want to receive alerts. Standard text fees from your cell phone provider will apply.

All of these alerts are customizable, including getting your actual daily cash balance to start your day.

You do have the ability to sign up for some of the alerts immediately by phone during your card activation process, but to maximize your communication options and know exactly what is happening with your cash, check out your Notification Options, under Alerts on your cardholder website.

* ONLINE FROM ANOTHER BANK ACCOUNT:
There are two common ways to move money from an existing bank account to your Capcom Unity Visa card, but it completely depends on what your existing bank allows:

  • Bank ACH Online Transfers. You will have to set up your card with your financial institution to send ACH transfers. It may take a couple days for the transfer to show up on your account. Please not that some banks do not offer ACH online transfers to other financial institutions, however.
  • Online Billpay from your Bank. If your bank offers an online Billpay service with your existing checking account, this is generally very simple. You can simply set up your Capcom Unity Visa card as a Billpay payee from your bank. Works even if your bank does not offer online ACH transfers. Once you have set your Capcom Unity Visa card up as a payee in your bank’s Billpay system, future transfers are faster and easier. May take a few days for the transfer to show up on your Capcom Unity Visa account as a deposit.
  • For either of the above options, you will need to know the following information to transfer money from your existing bank account to your Capcom Unity Visa card:

Bank Name: West Suburban Bank
Account Type: Checking
Routing Number: 071926278
Account Number: Check your cardholder website or your card carrier for your specific account number. It is not the same as your card number.

* WIRE TRANSFER (from your bank to your Capcom Unity Visa card, using the routing # and account # provided on your cardholder website)

Some of these deposit methods are free, and some of them may have a fee charged by the retailer or your bank.

Q:  How can I pay bills with my card?
A:
The automated bill payment service allows you to send a one-time or a recurring payment to thousands of billers. Your bill is paid instantly and the amount is deducted from your available balance. You can set up, edit, send payments and view your payment history online. If a biller is not listed in our database of several thousand companies (i.e. utilities, cellphone companies, credit card companies, large landlords, etc.), a paper check will be sent for $1 per check. With our online billpay service, you can pay anyone for anything, no matter how big or small they are.

Q:  How can I send money from my card to another Capcom Unity Visa card?
A:
Pretty easy. Login to your cardholder website, and under the Send Cash menu, select "Card to Card Tranfer" and follow the directions. You'll need to know the email address that your friend has tied to their Capcom Unity Visa card (for instance they may use a home email to manage their own account, not a work email address). If your friend does not already have a Capcom Unity Visa card, they will have to enroll and get their own card before you can send them money.

Q:  Can the card ever have a negative balance?
A:
Typically, a purchase cannot be made for more than the amount available. Occasionally, a merchant will allow a purchase before checking the amount available, which may result in a negative balance. If this situation occurs, you are responsible for the negative balance on the card.

Q:  What if my card or PIN is lost or stolen?
A:
Make sure you keep your PIN number in a safe place separate from your card and do not write it on your card. If your card or PIN is lost or stolen, quickly report it by calling 1-866-532-4664. Visa's Zero Liability policy can protect you from unauthorized purchases.*

*Visa's Zero Liability Policy does not apply to commercial card or ATM transactions, or to PIN transactions not processed by Visa. See your cardholder agreement for details.

Q:  Can I use this card for telephone or online purchases?
A:
Yes, both. You can use your Capcom Unity Visa card for phone purchases, online purchases, online bill payments, anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Purchases are protected by Visa's Zero Liability Policy.

Q:  What are pending authorizations?
A:
A notice of "pending" means that while we have received notice from that merchant that you spent that amount at their store or on their website, the merchant hasn't yet sent through the final amount for payment. This notice, called an authorization, is done to make sure that your card is valid and to tell us to put the money in your account on hold until the merchant sends through the final transaction amount for payment. When we receive that final notification (usually within 3-5 days of the purchase) the transaction is considered "settled" or "posted," and the amount of that transaction is taken out of your account and remaining funds released back to your available balance.

Q:  What if I return something I purchased?
A:
When you return something purchased, the merchant will credit the amount of the return to your card. Because returns are handled through the merchant's bank, credits may take 2-3 business days to appear in your card. If you return a purchase, and receive a credit, the returns will be deducted from your pending reward points.

Q:  How much cash can I have on my card at any given time?
A:
The maximum deposit today is $2,500, and the maximum balance that you can have on your card at any one time is $5,000.

Q:  How does my card work at pay-at-the-pump, restaurants, or car rentals, where the final amount isn't necessarily known?
A:
If you choose to pay at the pump at gas stations, you will need to have a minimum available balance of up to $100. If you purchase gas at the pump and the merchant obtains an authorization for $100 and the total purchase comes to $25, the merchant will complete the transaction by settling on the $25. The remaining $75 will be released back to your available balance, although the release of that temporary authorization may take a day or two. Restaurants, hotels and rental companies are other examples of companies that may authorize your card for funds in addition to the purchase amount.

Cards may be declined at restaurants because the restaurant automatically adds an anticipated tip amount to the Card authorization, which may bring the total over your available Card balance. When using your Card at a restaurant be sure your Card has enough cash on it to cover the ticket plus a 20% tip amount - even if you don't plan to tip that much or want to leave your tip in cash.

Car rentals are authorized for 15% over the contract amount, so you will want to check your balance and make sure that you have sufficient cash deposited on your card to allow for the increased authorization by the car rental company.

Q:  What if my purchase transactions are being declined? Is my Card working properly?
A:
Your Card is probably working as it should. Some transactions are declined because the purchase transaction is greater than the value on the Card. The merchant does not know your Card's balance. You must tell the merchant to "split" the ticket, placing only the Card's value on one ticket and using another form of payment for the balance.

Q:  Can I use the card for betting casinos or online gambling?
A:
No. The Capcom Unity Visa card is not be accepted for betting casinos or for online gambling.

Q:  Can I use my Capcom Unity Visa card for hotel reservations and payment?
A:
 Yes.

Q:  Can I buy a second card for a friend or family member?
A:
No. Any card that you purchase must be in your name. If a friend or family member wants a card, they will need to sign up with their own identification to get a card. Only one card can be issued per adult Social Security Number.

Q:  What are the minimum age requirements for the Capcom Unity Visa card?
A:
Anyone past their 13th birthday can get the Capcom Unity Visa card, however, between ages 13 and 17, parental verification is required during the sign-up process, as the parent is the actual legal cardholder and the child (ages 13-17) is considered the secondary cardholder. Have your parents with you when enrolling, because their specific information will be required during the sign-up process. After the 18th birthday, no parental verification is required to sign up for the card.

Q:  Can I export all my transactions to my tax or accounting software?
A:
Yes. You can export them into Quicken, MS Money or into an Excel spreadsheet. Simply Log in to your cardholder website, and under Card Management, click on Transaction View. At the bottom of your Transaction Detail, you can select the export format for the current date range. It's pretty cool.
